Based on the novel of the same name by Phillip Rosenberg, this gritty detective movie stars the great Frank Sinatra, alongside Martin Balsam (All The President’s Men) and singer Jay Black.

The partner - and best friend - of a tough New York City detective is murdered by killers working for a local mob. Infuriated at the inability of the Police Department to bring in those responsible, he decides, with the help of a few of his fellow detectives, to use whatever means necessary to destroy the gang.

Acclaimed by critics on release, Contract on Cherry Street was nominated for Best TV Feature/Miniseries at the 1978 Edgar Awards.

Directed by Gary Nelson (Noble House) and adapted from the book by former NYPD Deputy Police Commissioner Robert Daley, this is a brutally realistic depiction of injustice and corruption that later inspired the short-lived TV series Eischied.
